As the second phase of the Pulse Polio drive was completed on Sunday, 1.94 lakh children below the age of five were administered polio vaccine. District Medical Officer (DMO), Kozhikode, P.K. Mohanan said 813 children from other States also received the vaccine in the district.

Dr. Mohanan said the children who missed out on the vaccination this time would be administered the vaccine at their homes. Special teams would be deployed for this, he said. There were 2.50 lakh children in the district. The district medical office had set up 2,288 booths at anganwadis, hospitals, dispensaries, clinics, schools, and libraries in the district. There were 13 mobile booths at tourist centres and festival venues. Besides, there were 80 round-the-clock transit booths at railway stations and bus stands.

As many as 7,131 volunteers and 200 supervisors were on duty. District-level officials monitored the drive, a press release issued here on Sunday said.
