One more dies of swine flu in Uttarakhand

With the death of a woman, the toll due to swine flu has risen to three in Uttarakhand.

The woman, who belonged to Devprayag, died in a hospital in Dehradun on Saturday. Two other persons, a woman from Roorkee and a man from Dehradun, also died of the deadly virus.

Director General Health G.S. Joshi said 14 cases of swine flu were reported from Uttarakhand and three persons had succumbed to it till Saturday.

“There are 114 suspected cases of swine flu and reports of 64 of these have been received from the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC),” Dr Joshi said, adding that 14 of the 64 people had swine flu.

The affected patients were receiving treatment at various hospitals across the State, he said.

“We have received 1,000 tablets from the Central government. However, we have requested the Centre to provide us 2,000 more tablets,” Dr Joshi added.
