Dogs of different breeds showcased their skills at the Dog Show organised by the Kakatiya Kennel Association here on Sunday.
The show had as many as 183 entries from nine different States across the country.
The various breeds at the show included Pomeranian, Pekinese, Pug, Beagle, Dachshund, Golden Retriever, Labrador Retriever, Cocker Spaniel and so on. The show was hosted at the St. Peter’s School in Ramnagar, Hanamkonda.
Internationally known judge C.A. Martin of Goa was the adjudicator of the contest.
Association honorary secretary V. Ramana Reddy said the association was formed in 2004 and since then it had been organising annual dog shows. “We were the first in India to organise three open shows at the district headquarters. We got the affiliation of World Kennel Club, and we will be holding championship show next”.
He said the show was aimed at creating awareness among people on various breeds of dogs, to explain how to maintain them and guide people desirous of owning pets. “Pets help people in a variety of ways. The doctors of the City Hospital of New York say that by watching pets one can relieve themselves of hypertension and increase their life span as well,” Mr. Ramana Reddy said.
