Cop injured while diverting traffic near accident spot

Chandrakant Bhosale, the senior inspector of Bhosari police station, sustained severe injuries after a speeding motorcycle hit him late on Saturday night. He was then alerting commuters to drive slowly near an accident spot at Bhosari on Pune-Nashik highway.

Pune: Chandrakant Bhosale, the senior inspector of Bhosari police station, sustained severe injuries after a speeding motorcycle hit him late on Saturday night. He was then alerting commuters to drive slowly near an accident spot at Bhosari on Pune-Nashik highway.
Bhosale suffered severe injuries on his left hand and is currently recovering at a private hospital in Bhosari.
“He is out of danger,“ police said. Motorcycle rider Vishal Ankush Dongre (26) of Moshi has been arrested for rash driving.
Around 10.15pm on Saturday, a pedestrian died after being knocked down by a speeding Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) on Pune-Nashik highway. The bus driver did not stop after the accident. Bhosale, who was returning home, rushed to the spot after bring informed about the accident, police said.
Other policemen were busy shifting the pedestrian’s body, which was lying on the road. As the traffic did not slow down, Bhosale and police constable Dnyaneshwar Chavan started diverting motorists.
Police said that Dongre was riding the motorcycle at a high speed and hit Bhosale. Constable Chavan rushed him to a nearby hospital. Sub-inspector Dattatreya Dhumal is investigating the case.
Meanwhile, police are yet to identify the person who was knocked down by the PMPMPL bus.
