MANGALURU: Demand for dalit chief minister is a "closed chapter", said KPCC president G Parameshwara.
Parameshwara told reporters on Sunday that he will follow the directions of the party high command. "Digvijay Singh is the national general secretary of the party and in-charge for state. If he says something, it is considered as a directive of the high command.
Hence, the issue of dalit chief minister is a closed chapter," Parameshwara said adding that he is yet to receive directions from the party high command.
"I will follow any direction, which the High command gives me. I have not received any direction in this regard so far, but I saw it in media. I could not talk to him (Digvijay Singh) since I am in Mangaluru. He has clarified about the issue, and now everything ends. I don't want the issue to be dragged on again. Hence, I don't want to comment on the demand made by dalit leaders. The decision of High command is final and all issues have been put to halt," he said.
To a query as to whether he will talk to those leaders, who made dalit chief minister demand, Parameshwara said, "These are all developments that have taken place outside the party."
It may be recalled that Parameshwara also was claiming that he was chief minister material. Parameshwara, who is the president of Karnataka Athletic Association, was in the city to hold a preparatory meeting regarding Federation Cup National Senior Championships to be held in the city from May 1 to May 4 under the aegis of Athletics Federation of India.
