National level Girnar ascending descending competition held

Total 643 participants including 517 boys and 126 girls took part in Girnar ascending descending race today. The participants were from Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Assam, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh – total 10 states. The race started from Bhavnath at 7.00 am. it was flagged off by Mayor of Junagadh. Every year two such races are organized. One is organized at state level while other at national level. The race organized today was national one. 76 participants could not complete the race, while 360 were successful. Gujarat based Hari Govindbhai Majethia stood first with 57.38 minute mark. Hari is record holder with 55.31 minute time he took to complete the same race in past. Winner in all four categories were given Rs. 50,000 each. Runner up were given Rs. 25,000 each. Each second runner up got Rs. 15,000 prize. In total 40 winners received Rs. 5,50,000 prizes. This year, timing each participant took was recorded through an electronic chip. As soon as a participant would cross the finish line, the micro cheap would be read precisely by computer and total time taken in ascending descending would be counted accurately.
