A breezy evening, well-lit trees, an elegantly done-up venue and a high-octane live performance — the Indore Jheel Festival got off to a perfect start with Bollywood playback singer
Shaan’s act.
Belting out a range of numbers — some slow melodies and some foot-tapping songs, the singer had the audience swaying along with him for hours. For Shaan, Indore is a familiar place as he tells us, “In the last 10 years I have come here for at least 15 shows.
I have literally seen the city grow,” adding, “The show was so well organised.”
One of the high points of the evening was when Shaan sang the Madhya Pradesh anthem Dukh Ka Data Sab Ka Saathi Mera Madhya Pradesh. Stirred by inherent patriotic feelings, the assembled crowd, that included some political presence too, broke into an appreciative applause at this.
The city’s musically inclined audience was treated to songs that included the singer’s recent and old hits. “Some of the oft requested, and popular numbers were, Chaar Kadam from PK, Chand Sifarish from Fanaa and Behti Hawa Sa from 3 Idiots. One of the best things about the music lovers of Indore is that they are very patient and appreciative. Towards the end of the show I had the entire audience dancing to fast-paced numbers like Om Shanti Om.”
