New case filed against Bodiyo
VADODARA: While notorious criminal Aslam Bodiyo is still in police custody regarding an offence of making a threat call to extort money, yet another complaint of cheating against him was registered at City police station.
Shoaib Sheikh, a resident of Kalupur in Ahmedabad, filed an offence at the City police station on Friday evening. Sheikh has accused Bodiyo and his aide Shakeel of cheating him.

Sheikh who was in need of money had sold his car to Bodiyo on June 6 last year. Sheikh told police that Bodiyo paid him Rs 1.10 lakh and agreed to pay the remaining amount in instalments to the finance company. An agreement was also signed on a stamp paper in this regard. However, Bodiyo did not pay the instalments. When Sheikh confronted him, Bodiyo threatened to kill him.
According to the police, Sheikh, who owns a footwear store, came in contact with Bodiyo through two of his friends based in Ahmedabad. Sheikh was directed by his friends to a person in Vadodara in June. The unidentified person had introduced him to Bodiyo.
“Since Bodiyo did not pay the instalments, Shiekh eventually paid the dues to the finance company. The car, which is now with Aslam, is still in Sheikh’s name. We are conducting investigations to trace the car and to find out the three persons who helped Sheikh in contacting Bodiyo,” said detection of crime branch (DCB) police sub inspector B B Dabhi.
The police were on the lookout for Bodiyo after a complaint of extortion was registered against him by Ajwa Road resident Alihussain Vohra on February 13 at Panigate police station. Subsequently another FIR was registered against Bodiyo by an auto-rickshaw driver Mohammed Sheikh who accused Bodiyo of cheating him in a land deal. Bodiyo was arrested on Thursday near the Bird Circle on Old Padra Road.
