Swine flu: Aligarh Muslim Universiy is tackling the disease

The Aligarh Muslim University has stepped up efforts to tackle the menace of swine flu as the disease continue to spread its tentacles across the country. The university has so far witnessed nine swine flu positive cases, including one death.

AMU Pro Vice Chancellor Brigadier S. Ahmad Ali (retd) said, "The situation in the university is under control. We have been taking regular precautionary measures. We pray that we succeed in combating it and none of the students are recorded ill.

"The students should also not panic because of the situation and take necessary precautions. Though the classes have been suspended, extra classes will cover the syllabus."

The classes in the university have been suspended till February 25, 2015. To prevent the spread of the viral disease, all activities like seminars, workshops, meetings and elections in the institute have been postponed till further orders.

Principal of JN Medical College Tariq Mansoor said, "We have distributed over 1,000 pamphlets for educating the students. Medicines, such as Tamiflu and respirators are being made available free of cost. The authorities are trying their best, students should also take the rest half of the responsibility."
