INDORE: After claiming to have made remarkable progress in providing basic infrastructure facilities, including water, electricity and roads, Madhya Pradesh government aims to focus on improving education, healthcare and industrial development to curb migration of talented youths to metro cities.
On the sidelines of foundation laying ceremony of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) at Bada Bangada area of the city, chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “Once a ‘bimaru’ state, now it is one of the fastest growing states of the country.
We have raised the bar in agriculture sector and now we will throw challenge for other states in education, health and industries.”
Chouhan said that ample availability of human resources is our strength and we need to train young professionals with suitable skills.
“World is looking at us and we can fulfill the needs of technically skilled professionals,” he added.
State urban administration and development minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said that NMIMS has brought sea changes in the field of education. He appreciated the contribution of NMIMS chancellor Amrish Patel in progressive development of Shirpur assembly constituency in Maharashtra.
“I was impressed with Patel’s work and it is the reason why NMIMS has been invited to set-up NMIMS University in state,” he said.
Briefing about the action plan, Amrish Patel said, “We do not believe in commercialization of education. We consider education as a social service and aim to prepare skilled professionals. We will construct the academic campus in Indore on 25 acre land with investment of Rs 300 crore. The initial campus development process will take two years. All major courses will be taught here.”

The foundation laying ceremony was witnessed by Indore mayor Malini Gaud, Depalpur MLA Manoj Patel, NMIMS vice chancellor Prof Rajan Saxena and other dignitaries from industry and corporate.
Earlier, inaugurating ‘Clean-Indore, Healthy-Indore’ campaign in Indore, the chief minister announced to award the wards that are clean and beautiful. Award will be given on the basis of evaluation of work done in the coming one year. He also sought support from city residents to take initiative to make city green and clean.
Chouhan later took part in cleanliness drives organized at different parts of the city along with other members of ruling party in state.
