Six injured in gas blasts

Rawalpindi - At least six people, including two small children, sustained critical burn injuries in two separate gas explosions here on Saturday.
Rescue 1122 shifted the injured to nearby hospitals for medical treatment where doctors termed the condition of two patients critical.
According to sources, in the first incident a couple and two of their children were burnt when an explosion occurred in gas compressor at their house located in Mohalla Barki Badhal. After the blast, fire broke out in the house, sources said adding that Rescue 1122 was called which shifted the injured to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital where the injured were identified as Sheikh Sagheer Ahmed, her wife Abida, son Ibrahim (4) and daughter Maira (3).
However, the doctors referred the patients to Holy Family Hospital (HFH) while keeping in view their critical condition. A doctor told this scribe the couple burnt 70 percent but doctors are trying to safe their lives.
In the second incident, a mother and her son were injured when a huge explosion occurred owing to gas leakage in their house. The victims were identified as Kalsoom Bibi (55) and Raees (25). Both were shifted by Rescue 1122 to a nearby hospital and later to HFH Rawal Burn Unit because of severe injuries.
