THERE ARE MANY JOB OPPORTUNITIES IN GOLF: Neil told us, “I play golf whenever I don’t have school, and I love the game. I believe there are a lot of employment opportunities in golf. I submitted a proposal to the BG Foundation, an NGO run by my aunt. The proposal involves teaching golf to underprivileged children so as to create employment opportunities for them. Once they learn the basics of the game, they can work on the field helping the players, working as caddies and earning good money. They can also learn the game. The foundation went to a government school and informed the children about the golf caddy training program that’s part of the BG Foundation Abhiyaan. I’m now teaching those who were interested.”
The students who are learning golf from Neil seemed eager to continue the game. Shyam Kumar, a student of class VII at a local government school, said, “We never thought that we would get an opportunity to play and learn golf. I wish I could continue learning it after Neil has returned to the US.”
