No toll for using four bridges

February 22, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:32 am IST - Bengaluru:

Motorists need not pay toll while using four bridges in the State from February 2015, according to a directive from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

Radhakrishna Holla, general secretary of Bangalore Tourist Taxi Operators Association (BTTOA), said users, including trucks and private vehicles, need not pay toll for using the Hagari, Netravati, Veeravaishnavi and Sharavati bridges.

He said that the All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) will take up the issue of stopping toll on other bridges too, as it is the bane of the transport fraternity.

One-time toll

Besides introduction of electronic transport collection (ETC) system and seamless travel of commercial vehicles through dedicated lanes would be a step forward, the AIMTC is also discussing with the government a proposal for a rationalised one-time toll.
