Three killed, dozen injured as train rams into vehicle

At least three persons were killed and nearly a dozen critically injured when Bakhtiyarpur- Tilaiya DMU passenger train ran over a public passenger vehicle at an unmanned railway crossing near Daroga Bigha village under Deep Nagar police station area in Nalanda district around 6.30pm on Saturday.

Biharsharif: At least three persons were killed and nearly a dozen critically injured when Bakhtiyarpur- Tilaiya DMU passenger train ran over a public passenger vehicle at an unmanned railway crossing near Daroga Bigha village under Deep Nagar police station area in Nalanda district around 6.30pm on Saturday. The train rammed the vehicle when it was crossing the track.
The driver, however, escaped.
A news agency, however, reported eight killing in the accident.
A relative of an injured person said the deceased and those injured belong to Khera Bigha village under Deepnagar police station area. He said they were returning to their village after attending a marriage of one Hari Choudhry, son of one Radhe Choudhry, performed at a temple at Biharsharif when DMU train coming from Bakhtiyarpur side ran over the vehicle in which Khushi Kumar, 20, and brother of the groom Arun Choudhry, died on the spot. They also brought body of a young woman whose identity was yet not confirmed.
Deepnagar police station SHO, who was busy in carrying the injured persons from the accident site to Biharsharif sadar hospital, said over 10 persons are believed to be critically injured in the accident. A doctor in the emergency ward of the hospital confirmed three deaths. He said that condition of four persons was critical as they had received multiple injuries and were rushed to PMCH.
