C.K. Nayudu Trophy: Himachal Pradesh in command

Himachal Pradesh took control of the match at close of play on the third day, reducing Karnataka to 39 for three in 15 overs in its second innings in the four-day semifinal of the Col. C.K. Nayudu Trophy U-23 match here on Saturday.

Earlier, Himachal Pradesh, resuming at 207 for three in 60 overs, scored 402 in 132.2 overs to gain a vital first innings lead of 117 runs.

V.R. Kumar (63, 4x4, 3x6), N.R. Gangta (98, 9x4, 5x6) and R.K. Singh (38 n.o., 5x4) starred for the visitors.

Medium-pacer Ronit More (three for 60), off-spinner Zeeshan Ali (three for 59) were the main wicket-takers for Karnataka.

The scores: Karnataka 285 in 117.4 overs and 39 for three in 15 overs vs Himachal Pradesh 402 in 132.2 overs (N.R. Gangta 98, A.K. Bains 82, P.S. Chopra 72, V.R. Kumar 63, R.K. Singh 38 n.o., Ronit More three for 60, Zeeshan Ali three for 59).

At Kanpur: Uttar Pradesh 536 in 197.2 overs (A. Shaukat 175, A. Nath 81, R. Singh 111, A. Farzeen three for 90, F. Ahmed three for 146, A. Chandran three for 94) & 10 for no loss in three overs vs Kerala 208 in 64.3 overs (M. Azharuddeen 38, N. Surendran 40, A. Chandran 49, Z. Ansari six for 81).

At Raipur (play-off for elite spot): Bengal 395 & 148 for one in 41 overs (A. Easwaran 53 batting, Sudip Chatterjee 77 batting) vs Chhattisgarh 148 in 73.4 overs (A. Tiwary 44, S.J. Ahmed 27, Sayan Ghosh three for 55, Alok Pratap Singh six for 57).
