Sandeep Anand to play Betaal

Sandeep Anand, who was seen as Billu in FIR, which recently went off air, has been roped in to play Betaal in SinhasanBattisi.
Sandeep is the third actor who will be playing the role. Initially, Rajesh Khera was finalized to play the role ,but he quit the show on medical grounds citing that the character was physically demanding.

Abhaas Mehta then replaced Khera and now we hear that Sandeep has been roped in to play the character, say sources.“Sinhasan Battisi was earlier aired as a mythological show but now the show will be shifting to a comedy channel from March 9 onwards and the show will be rechristened as Betaal aur Sinhasan Battisi. All the actors apart from Abhaas from the original cast have been retained,” add sources.

Dheeraj Kumar, producer of the show, confirmed the news and told us, “Abhaas had already told us that he would be unavailable in March since he has to go for scuba diving to the States. We required a touch of humour to the show since it’s shifting to a new channel and that’s why we decided to rope Sandeep in, who has played a humorous character in FIR.”
Set reminders for your favourite TV Shows Sandeep added, “I am very excited to play this role. I was searching for something different after FIR, which is when this came up. I hail from Ujjain and even Raja Vikramaditya was the king of Ujjain. I grew up reading the stories of Raja Vikramaditya and Betaal. It’s a character that’s physically demanding since one has to hang upside down and it also requires one to remain bare-bodied. As an actor, it’s a very big challenge. I am treating this as a new show since it’s moving to a new channel and the storyline will also undergo a change.”
