Varun Dhawan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer ‘Badlapur’ box office collections, the talk of the town for the past few weeks, have opened on a positive note. The movie, which garnered rave reviews from the critics, has collected an estimated Rs 7 crore from Day 1 at the box office, becoming the fourth biggest opening grosser of 2015.
This year’s biggest opener is ‘Roy’ with Rs 10.40 crore, followed by Rs 9.3 crore from ‘Baby’ and Rs 7.05 crore from ‘Tevar’.
‘Badlapur’ has also become Varun Dhawan’s third highest grossing film behind Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (Rs 9.02 crore) and Student Of The Year (Rs. 7.48 crore).
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said ‘Badlapur’ showed excellent growth from evening show onwards and the business of the film is expected to grow further over the weekend.

Unlike the Ranbir Kapoor– Jacquelin Fernandes starrer ‘Roy’, that featured the best opening day collections of the year, ‘Badlapur’, which as stars Huma Qureshi, is expected to gain strength as time passes. The films has been appreciated by the audience and the movie’s box office collections look to be propped up by positive word of mouth. In fact, both the actors, Varun Dhawan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, have been applauded by one and all for stellar performances in the film.

With the impending Cricket World Cup and the ongoing cash crunch continuing, the scenario at the box-office scenario is definitely bleak, but exhibitors and trade analysts are hopeful that ‘Badlapur’, with its gritty and dark story line, will give them some respite.
