VASCO: A Mormugao port trust (MPT) employee was arrested after he allegedly injured a colleague in a fight, while on duty during the night intervening Thursday and Friday.
Mechanic Arif Shaikh landed in jail after the victim Ramakant Gaude fractured his left hand due to the assault on him. Police said that Shaikh, 47, a resident of Sada, called Gaude, 55, a resident of Mardol, to help him in repairing a machine.
Both were working on night duty.
Gaude, who in the past used to work as a mechanic, was given the post of a peon after he developed some problems with his leg. When Gaude refused to help Shaikh citing health reasons, Shaikh became angry. He abused Gaude slapped him and pushed him fracturing Gaude’s hand.
Acting on the complaint Vasco police arrested Shaikh under Sections 325, and 506 of IPC. PSI Gautam Salunke is the investigating officer.
