Fareed bags gold in wrestling

JAMMU, Feb 20: Fareed Ahmed clinched gold medal in 50 kg category, while Pardeep Singh and Mohd Rafiq claimed silver and bronze medals in the Poonch District Wrestling Championship held at Poonch.
The wrestlers of Chandak dominated the event and secured 23 points to win the overall trophy, while the wrestlers of block Poonch were declared runners-up.    In 55 kg, Mohd Shafiq, Mohd Akram and Mohd Mahir won gold, silver and bronze respectively, while in 61 kg, Kamaljeet Singh and Mohd Altaf got gold and silver  medals respectively.
Shah Nawaz and Sandeep Singh won gold and silver in 67 kg respectively, while Govinder Singh, Mohd Ifrad Khan and Amreen Khan bagged gold, silver and bronze medals in 75 kg category respectively.
Ashiq Hussain and Mehtab Ahmed Khan claimed gold and silver in 85 kg category respectively. The prizes and certificates were awarded to the winners by Prem Singh, retired Major, Zila Sainik Board Officer in presence of Bansi Lal Tidyal, Krishan Lal Sharma and Nirdosh Kumar.
The bouts were officiated by NIS coach Mulkh Raj Sharma and Sanjeev Sharma.
