Chawrasia and Siddikur are handling DGC well

The ninth has been playing tough but still a double was disappointing on what was otherwise a pretty decent round.

It is never pleasant to come off the golf course with a double bogey on the closing hole. That’s what it was on Friday in the second round at the Hero Indian Open 2015.

The ninth has been playing tough but still a double was disappointing on what was otherwise a pretty decent round. I had an ‘unplayable’ on the right side and I needed to chip out and ended with a six on the par 4 hole.

Till I came to my last hole, I was one-under through 17 with three birdies and two bogeys and a bunch of missed birdie putts, but then came the final hole and from red numbers I went over par. The birdies came on the 10th, which was a good start as I hit it to one foot for a tap-in and then I had a second birdie on 13th and the final one on first.

I had so many close chances that I lost count. I am happy I created a lot of birdie chances, but kind of not too happy that I could not convert many of them. I am now even for 36 holes and somewhere around 25th.

Festive offer

I just need to keep in mind that a good low round can always bring back a player into the frame.

That’s what Anirban Lahiri kept in mind as he bounced back from his first day’s quadruple bogey and a card of two-over 73.

His six-under 65 despite a closing bogey — yes, that was also on the ninth — puts him into the Top-10.

While Anirban did well, SSP Chawrasia was bogey free once again. So after 36 holes he is 10-under and has no bogeys and is one shot clear of Bangladesh’s Siddikur Rahman, who at nine-under has 12 birdies, one bogey and one double.

It was also good to see that all of us — the seniors have made the cut.

Arjun (Atwal) played a second straight 70 despite struggling with putting, Jeev Milkha birdied 16th and 18th to stay on in the tournament and earlier on Jyoti Randhawa played a fine 69 to remind all that he has won this event three times.
