B-school aspirants get 9 days to register for MAH- CET

B-school aspirants have nine days to register for the s common entrance test (MAH-CET) for MBA/MMS admissions. The directorate of technical education (DTE) started the registrations on Wednesday, packing them up on February 27. This might lead to a decrease in applications, said experts. Also, there is a window of one extra day-March 2, when students who have failed to register can fill their forms. The MAH-CET is scheduled to be held on March 14 and 15.

With number of applications decreasing every year, the DTE should have worked to make the process smoother and convenient for students, said a teacher with a management college. Also, the online process is a difficult task for students from rural areas. Last year, around 53,000 students had applied for the test. In 2012 and 2011, the numbers were 85,000 and 96,000 respectively. Last year, over 40% of the 45,000 management college seats remained vacant in Maharashtra.

The other MBA entrance exams, like the common management aptitude test and common admission test, usually give a month's gap for the registration process. The DTE, last month, had asked students to create user names on their website to receive updates on their registrations, regarding which students bluntly complained having given no updates.
