The Five Towns Park plan includes a 53,000 square-metre retail development as well as a new 10,000-capacity stadium and a 50 acre park.

It will be built by GMI Construction at Glasshoughton, next to Junction 32 of the M62.

The developer is  Lateral Property Group, which has secured Next Group to anchor the retail development with a 6,500 square-metre Next Home & Garden store.

Castleford Tigers CEO Steve Gill said that the planning application would now be referred to the National Planning Casework Unit for further consideration. The aspiration is to start construction this summer.
