School fined

February 20, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:30 am IST - Bengaluru:

A Division Bench, comprising Chief Justice D.H. Waghela and Justice Ram Mohan Reddy on Thursday a imposed a fine of Rs.14,000 on Sri Vani Education Centre, Basaveshwaranagar, which had appealed against the June 2014 order of a single judge directing the school to admit 14 students under the RTE Act quota. The Bench, while dismissing the appeal, desisted from imposing heavy cost as it noticed that though the school had admitted the 14 students in compliance with the direction of the single judge even though the appeal was filed against the order.

The school, claiming linguistic minority status, had claimed that the single judge should not have directed to admit 14 children as the admission process was complete by then and there were no sufficient space to accommodate more children.
