KANPUR: Samples of saliva and blood of five suspected patients of swine flu were sent to SGPGI and KGMU in Lucknow on Thursday.
Deputy CMO, Dr Arvind Yadav informed that the saliva samples of Vinod Kumar Tiwari, Utkarsh Dubey, Shakuntala Devi, Anurag Shukla and Kshitij Pal have been sent for tests after they showed symptoms of swine flu. He said that Vinod Kumar Shukla and Anurag Shukla are admitted in the LLR hospital, Utkarsh Dubey and Kshitij Pal are admitted in Infectious Disease Hospital of GSVM Medical College.
Shakuntala Devi is being treated at a private hospital.
Dr Ashish Srivastava, district epidemic control officer, informed that four new suspected patients were admitted in the IDH on Thursday. These are Azra Parveen, Taneesh Sachan, Nishu Singh and Ishan Gupta.
Meanwhile, report of samples of four suspected patients of swine flu which were sent to KGMU on Wednesday, are still awaited.
The four saliva samples that were sent on Wednesday include that of Maruth Behra (40), a resident of RBI Colony, Divyansh (1-year-old) from Shuklaganj, Anay (11 months) from Naubasta, Ishan (22) from Nawabganj area and Om Prakash.
Their reports are expected to some by Thursday evening. Maruth, Divyansh and Anay are admitted in Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH), the other two are admitted in a private hospital.
Till date, 42 suspected cases have been reported. Of these, five came out to be positive. Three positive patients have died. Divyanshu Singh (18 months) and MD Haroon (54) are surviving carriers of the deadly virus. A total of 27 cases were found to be negative.
