Five killed as car falls into ditch

GUWAHATI: At least five persons were killed after a vehicle in which they were travelling fell into a ditch in Barpeta district on Thursday, police said.
While three persons died on the spot, two others succumbed to their injuries on their way to the hospital. Another seven sustained injuries in the accident.
“The vehicle, which was going to Chenga from Vella village, lost control and fell into the water body.Villagers rescued the passengers,” said a police officer in Barpeta. Three of the injured persons were referred to Guwahati Medical College and Hospital.
