GURGAON: On November 20, TOI reported a unique case of poor planning in the city where the Sikanderpur flyover, a part of the DLF-HUDA 16-lane expeswway, was constructed but couldn't be opened for traffic as its exit was partially blocked by Rapid Metro's DLF Phase II station.
Thousands of commuters who get stuck in traffic at this busy road were outraged at the apathy of authorities but they were relieved when all stakeholders - HUDA, DLF, Rapid Metro and engineering firm IL&FS - came together for a timely course correction.

Yet, the city continues to wait for the flyover to open. A senior official, who was part of the team which has built this flyover, said a VVIP guest's busy schedule is blocking inauguration of the facility.
Asked about this, a DLF official said on condition of anonymity, "The fact is that there is some work left at the foot of the flyover and this is the reason why it has not been opened for traffic. The crash barriers near Rapid Metro station are being installed. Once all this work is completed, we will open the flyover for public use."
Many, however, are not convinced with this answer. "Some of us walked across the flyover. It can easily be opened for traffic. HUDA is making the commuters suffer to please their political masters," said Arun Kumar, a resident.
This isn't only infrastructure project waiting to be inaugurated. The Shankar Chowk underpass remains barricaded as officials claim that lights are still being installed.
