NASHIK: The semi-constructed Wadala-Pathardi Road has become a nightmare for residents, students and passers-by.
The road, work on which began six months ago, has been left half-constructed. Residents said incomplete construction not only made the width of the roads narrow but also made them dusty. "Work on the road stopped suddenly a fortnight ago. We cannot speak with anyone as there is not a single person at the site.
We have to go to the divisional office, which is not possible for all of us," said Anagha Pathak, a housewife.
Senior citizens, who go for their morning walk at the jogging track close by, have also been complaining of the dust. "This is a busy road with many educational institutions. It becomes difficult to cross the road during peak hours. A divider has been put on the roads but not properly. As only half of the road has been constructed, it has become narrower," said AK Gulati, a senior citizen.
Niraja Rathod, a mother of two, said it was difficult for school children to walk on the half-constructed road with traffic snarls.
On Tuesday, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) protested against the incomplete road work. "After we started protesting, we saw some labourers and a road roller on the spot. They were not there till we began protesting. If the work does not resume soon, then we will agitate in a bigger way," said party workers.
City engineer Sunil Khune said, "I will inquire into the matter and find out the problem from the concerned engineer. I will see to it that work resumes at the earliest."
