CHENNAI: Five policemen from Kancheepuram, who threatened a 75-year-old woman at gunpoint to cancel her gift deed awarded to her children at a sub registrar office more than a year ago, surrendered before a magistrate court in Chengalpet on Wedesnday.
They obtained anticipatory bail from Madras high court and surrendered after CB CID police registered a case against them last month.

The police sub-inspectors Murthy, Gunasekaran, head constables Devadoss, Chellammal and Hari Keerthi were freed by the magistrate and were instructed to appear before the investigation officer in the CB-CID office in Vellore at 6.30pm every day.
CB-CID police booked a case following a high court order. The seven policemen and four others threatened Krishnaveni, 75, after taking her to the sub-registrar office in Thirukazhukundram to cancel the gift deed issued in favour of her children in 2013. But the local police did not register a case.
As she did not get justice, she moved Madras high court which ordered for a CB CID investigation. CB-CID police confirmed the incident by verifying the CCTV footages recorded at the office in Thirukazhukundram and registered an FIR against 11 persons. Of them, five have surrendered.
The events relating to the case unfolded when Krishnaveni’s brother first cheated her after taking her thumb impression and sold the property measuring 2.25 acres to one Karthikeyan, a businessman. But she objected when she came to know about it. This forced the businessman to approach anti-land grabbing cell in Kancheepuram.
The policemen attached to the land grabbing cell, however, took the side of the businessman and summoned the woman and her children to the station. They took them to the sub registrar office, where they forcefully took her signatures to cancel her gift deed granted to her children.
