Taxi hailing app company GetTaxi today announced that it is launching operations in Eilat. 100 taxi drivers in the Red Sea resort have joined GetTaxi and 25 of the taxis will offer child safety seats as part of its GetKids service that it introduced two months ago.
GetTaxi's entry into the Eilat taxi market is likely to shake up the status quo in one of the most competitive taxi markets in Israel.
GetTaxi Israel CEO Mark Oun said, "Eilat is known for its major demand for taxis with hundreds of thousands of Israeli and foreign tourists coming to the city each year for vacations in the various hotels. We saw the city as a strategic target and we are sure that within a short period of time the service will become something integral in the daily lives of Eilat residents and the city's guests."
GetTaxi has now completed its strategic deployment throughout Israel and has 5,000 taxi drivers.
