Chess champion Magnus Carlsen is a fan of Bluetooth Smart

Nordic Semiconductor will have World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen on its stand at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month to challenge ten chess players in games of ‘blitz’ chess.

World Chess Champion, Magnus Carlsen, was the youngest player to be ranked number one in world chess is the highest-ranking points holder in the history of the game.

Blitz chess is a time-restricted version of the game designed to accelerate outcomes. In addition to his World Chess Champion status, Carlsen is also World Blitz Chess Champion.

The Norwegian low power radio chip firm will also demonstrating an IPv6-ready Internet Protocol kit for its nRF51 series of Bluetooth Smart SoC devices. 

The the software kit enables native and interoperable IP-based connectivity between a Bluetooth Smart devices and a cloud service. It also enables Bluetooth Smart to be used in large, distributed, cloud-connected, heterogeneous networks such as home, industrial, and enterprise automation.

Nordic will also be demonstrating Taiyo Yuden’s Bluetooth Smart module which is based on the nRF51822 system-on-chip device. The module integrates the SoC, antenna, and 32MHz crystal, and is qualified to the Bluetooth specification.

Mobile World Congress 2015 takes place in Barcelona 2-5 March
