Swathi rendered ‘O Rangasayi’ in Kambhoji. She rendered the raga and the kirtana with admirable involvement in the sahitya.

The vocal concert rendered by Swathi Srikrishna of Chennai for ‘Swara Tarangini’ sabha of Vijayawada at Sringeri Peetha Paripalita Sivaramakrishna Kshetram, was sumptuous with a large number of well selected items. Most of them presented with good manodharmam aspects. Swathi, en experienced singer who sticks to traditional style took her training from late eminent scholar musician N.Ch. Krishnamacharyulu and she sports a powerful and melodious voice. Swathi started with Sahana varnam and followed it with Mahaganapathim in Nata and a beautiful composition Swagatham Krishna of Ambujam Krishna in Mohana. She rendered the pallavi and anupallavi in trisra gati and the charanas in chaturasra gati. Next item was Ennalloorake in Subha pantuvarali. The raga and neraval were exhaustive and bhava-rich phrases and the kalpanaswaras made the item one of the most impressive in the concert.

After singing Sarasamukhi (Gowdamalhar), a composition of Muthaiah Bhagavatar, Swathi took up as the main item, the majestic Thyagaraja composition O Rangasayi in Kambhoji. She rendered the raga and the kirtana with admirable involvement in the sahitya. Particularly, the bhava-rich and leisurely neraval at Bhooloka Vaikuntham touched the hearts of the audience. The kalpanaswaras showed her command on the laya aspect. Swathi concluded her concert with a Purandaradas kirtana in raga Vasanti, a rare raga and Lalgudi’s tillana in Madhyamavathi. Swathi Srikrishna received excellent support from N.C. Anantakrishna and P.S. Phalgun on violin and mridangam respectively.
