Man known as 'Dracula' to stand trial over murder of Townsville man Bradley Lester
A man has been committed to stand trial over the murder of a 21-year-old homeless man in Townsville in north Queensland last year.
Mark Anthony Smith, 32, from Townsville, allegedly strangled Bradley Lester in April last year.
Mr Lester's body was found in a CBD carpark.
Yesterday witnesses told the Townsville Magistrates Court that Smith was known as "Dracula" at the homeless shelter, where he shared a room with Mr Lester.
Today the court heard from witness Michael Dargen, who told the court on the night of the incident that a man walked up to him and said: "It looks like I'm going to jail for murder."
In court, Smith was asked if he had anything to say, but he shook his head and remained silent.
He was committed to stand trial in the Townsville Supreme Court at a later date.
