The Third International Telugu Writers’ Conference will strive to make Telugu a world language . Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad and Central Hindi Council member Yarlagada Lakshmi Prasad, on Wednesday, addressed a press conference to give details of the international meet to be held at Krishnaveni Talent School on February 21 and 22.
Mr. Buddha Prasad said that February 21 was selected for the conference because it was observed world-over as the United Nations’ International Mother Tongue Day. He said Telugu was given classical language status and the next step was to elevate its status to that of a world language. Google had already put 14 Telugu fonts on its website. The open-source Google fonts were available for all, he said.
Prof. Lakshmi Prasad said another objective of the conference was to unite the Telugus all over the world. “As many as 600 delegates will attend the meet from Telangana, another 120 are coming from other States and there are 12 international delegates coming from USA, UK, Canada, Dubai, Singapore, Mauritius and France,” he said.
