Miffed over BJP’s not up to the mark performance in the just concluded bypolls in Bengal, the RSS state leadership feels the party needs to stress on building up organisation by getting involved in mass movements based on burning issues in the state.

“The results could have been much better in both the bypolls. The BJP had been in a much better position. If you have to succeed, you have to build up mass movements based on issues that concerns the people,” RSS prachar pramukh Jishnu Basu told PTI.

In a major boost for Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress, which is facing the heat of Saradha scam, won in a big way the bypolls in Bongaon Lok Sabha and Krishnagunj Assembly constituencies yesterday and the BJP had to be contented with increased vote share.

Basu said Bongaon being a bordering area issues like cow smuggling and infiltration are issues on which there are scopes to build up a mass movements. Asked whether the BJP’s decision to para-drop Subrata Thakur, son of a Trinamool minister, just days before the election as party candidate by sidelining old timers backfired, Basu evaded a categorical reply saying, “In politics its not about old and new, its about natural choice of the cadres and people”.

Another RSS leader, who didn’t wished to be named, said if needed the RSS will ask the BJP state unit to strengthen its party organisation.
