BHOPAL: In a massive show of strength, more than seven lakh state government employees and officers will proceed on one day mass casual leave on February 18 in protest against manhandling of a sub divisional magistrate by BJP workers led by party MP in Raghogarh recently.
Termed as "total shut down", MP Administrative Service Association has exempted essential services like health, water and electricity supply and schools from the strike.

"There have been more than 1300 cases of mar-peet (manhandling) with government employees and officials in last 12 years," said GP Mali, president of the association. He claimed that as many as 17 unions of employees and officials have extended support to the strike.
The Raghogarh incident took place on February 9 this year.
"The police did not register an FIR for few days and a case was registered only after intervention of higher authorities", Mali said.
Meeting of the association for a solution with chief minister and chief secretary failed, he said. The association demanded a law to protect government employees and officials and an act on the lines of SC and ST (prevention of atrocities) Act, among other things, to check increasing cases of violence against non -IAS government staff. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said he would look into the demands.
Government employees will assemble at the offices of the district collector across the state to protest.
Meanwhile, BJP president Nand Kumar Singh Chouhan, during his visit to Morena on Tuesday, rubbished the proposed strike. He termed the strike as a "fraud".
