ISKCON padayatra enters city

A grand procession with a bullock cart and a mobile temple as part of the ISKCON All India Padayatra for world peace arrived in the city on Tuesday. The padayatra has already travelled 1.60 lakh km covering Rameswaram, Dwaraka, Badrinath, Parasuram Kund, Jaganath Puri over the past 30 years.

MP K. Haribabu and philanthropist Mattapalli Chalamayya welcomed the padayatra on its arrival here on the Beach Road.

The purpose behind the padayatra is to create awareness about Sanatana Dharma and to spread the message of Bhagavad Gita.

From here, the padayatra will continue its journey to Tirupati and Rameswaram.

“Every six years, the padayatra returns to the same city. Around 35 brahmacharis are taking part in the padayatra and going to the cities and villages across India,” said Mataji Nitai Sevini of ISKCON, Sagar NagarThe padayatra will go around the city for one week before heading to their next destination.
