Piety, fervour mark Sivarathri celebrations

Devotees thronged in large numbers to Siva temples where special poojas, rituals and spiritual discourses were held all through to mark the Maha Sivarathri celebrations on Tuesday.

The temples also witnessed rendition of puranas, cultural programmes to mark the occasion. The devotees also observed fast and took part in bhajans to seek the blessings of Lord Siva.

Madanandeshwrara Siddi Vinayaka temple at Madhur, Mallikarjuna temple here, Trikkanad Thryambakeshwara temple, Kudlu Siva temple, Gudde Mahalingeshwara temple, Karpooreshwara temple in Kanhangad, Thaliyil Siva temple at Neeleshwaram saw heavy rush as part of the Sivarathri celebration in the district.
