Journalist Shivanand Joshi dead

Veteran journalist and TSR award winner Shivanand Joshi passed away at his residence here after a brief illness. He was 78.

A native of Kerur in Badami taluk of Bagalkot district, he began his journalistic career at ‘Vishwavani’. Mr. Joshi worked in ‘Samyukta Karnataka’ for 22 years.

Although he wrote on different subjects, he was known for sports reporting and his sports column ‘Char Run Ke Liye’.

He also authored ‘Patrikodyama: Ondu Margadarshi’, ‘Paapu- Pavem: Ondu Toulanika Adhyana’, ‘Olympic Andolana’, ‘Cricket Kathe’, ‘Vijaya Dundhubi’, ‘Sthreya Charitre Purushana Bhagya’, and ‘Itihasada Haadiyalli Sadhakara Saalu’.

He was honoured with TSR Award in 2007, Karnataka Media Academy Award in 2006, ‘Paapu Puraskar’, ‘KSCA Award’ and others.
