Drinking water unit in Hampi

Sri Vidyaranya Bharati Swami of Vidyaranyapeetha inaugurated a drinking water unit installed by Hosapete-based Tayamma Shakti Sangha for devotees coming to Virupaksha Temple, here on Tuesday.

The cost of the project is Rs. 3.5 lakh.

The swami said that such units should be installed in rural areas to ensure that the people were be protected from water-borne diseases, including flurosis, which was rampant in the district.

Kavita Singh, head of the sangha, said their organisation’s motto was to take up the cause of women, particularly the poor, and empower them to become self-dependent by training them in tailoring, papad making, computer applications, candle making and also literacy to the uneducated.
