Villagers stir against firing at upcoming solar plant site

JAISAMER: Villagers of Marwar Gram Vikas Samiti That on Tuesday took out a procession and submitted a memorandum to SDM and Pokhran station officer stating that hardcore criminal Rawal Singh was presently residing in Kelva and his gang had opened fire on the under construction solar energy plant at That and created ruckus and damaged vehicles and property at the site.
Samiti president Noordeen said, “Two days ago at That village, 50Mw solar plant, which is being constructed by Today Green company for last three months was attacked. Hardcore criminal Rawal Singh Bhati has been threatening and terrorising company officers, employees and villagers for quite a long time. On Sunday night, the gang members came in 5 vehicles and created ruckus. They fired in the air and set ablaze three motorcycles. They beat up employees and security personnel and injured them seriously. Villagers demanded SDM and SHO to immediately arrest Rawal Singh and his gang and suspend Pokhran SHO who was in connivance with the criminals.”
He said that if action is not taken against the criminals then villagers on February 19 would hold symbolic sit-in and administration would be responsible for this.
According to the information, in Pokhran area at Kelva gram panchayat, a few unidentified people last night opened fire in the air at the under construction solar plant of Mahindra company and set fire to three motorcycles by sprinkling diesel and also broke vehicles, JCB machine and other machines that were parked there. These unidentified people fired at the containers made for the officers and created ruckus. Three personnel present there suffered injuries.
After this incident, there is an atmosphere of fear among personnel residing at the solar power plant.
Police have lodged case in the incident and have intensified the efforts to arrest the anti-social elements.
