Billionaire Vekselberg’s Hevel Opens Solar Farm in Russia

OOO Hevel, a venture between Russian billionaire Viktor Vekselberg’s Renova and OAO Rosnano, opened the country’s first full-cycle solar module production plant on Tuesday, according to a government statement.

Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev attended the start of production from the factory, which is located in Novocheboksarsk. It will reach full capacity of 97.5 megawatts per year in the second half of 2015, according to the statement. The plant cost more than 20 billion rubles ($320 million) and will use technology from OC Oerlikon Corp.
