BIM For FM - YouBIM On One Of Latin America's Biggest Hydroelectric Plants

One of the largest hydroelectric power stations in Latin America has just selected ENGworks together with the University of Misiones to implement the YouBIM software on their entire Plant. YouBIM will be integrated with IBM Maximo.

One of the largest hydroelectric power stations in Latin America has just selected ENGworks together with the University of Misiones to implement the YouBIMsoftware on their entire plant.

The dam is about 2,600 ft. (800 m2) long, and its installed equipment has maximum power output of 3,100 megawatts (4,200,000 hp), with a record maximum annual power output of 20.000 TWh.

This giant hydroelectric plant was constructed during the 80s and started to be operational mid 90s.

With more than 35,000 maintainable assets on the project, YouBIM will be integrated with IBM Maximo, which is the current CMMS system utilized for maintenance.

First, a REVIT As-Built model will be created. The modeling effort will be developed to focus on facility maintenance purposes. Currently relevant data is partly in IBM Maximo and partly dispersed thus it will need to be collected and organized.

After a successful pilot YouBIM implementation performed last year on one of their maneuver stations, the facility operators are very excited to implement thisBIM for FM solution on the entire plant. They believe it will give them quick access to their asset data and location. This will improve the efficiency of their maintenance department by reducing equipment failures that cause emergency repairs. Ultimately, this will lead to longer equipment lives by providing better preventive maintenance and less equipment replacement.
