The Home Minister Gaikhangam Gangmei is reported to have taken a serious view of the way one proscribed underground outfit has served death notice to the directors of the Imphal Urban Cooperative Bank (IUCB) if they refuse to resign within four days. Following the death threat, security has been tightened in the IUCB offices and the members of the Board of Directors may be given armed guards.
The United National Liberation Front (UNLF), in a statement said that it had asked the directors to resign as they were found guilty of cronyism. Their family members were appointed in the IUCB board on contractual basis flouting all rules and norms.
The outfit has served a four-day ultimatum on the directors to resign.
Meanwhile there is uncertainty and fear among the share holders and account holders of IUCB in view of the alarming developments.
