A 15-year-old minor girl committed suicide by consuming pesticide at JV Palem area under S Rayavaram police station limits in the district on Monday.
According to the police, the girl had reportedly taken the extreme step to avoid her forcible marriage to her uncle.
Police said that the girl’s mother V. Lakshmi had fixed her marriage with her uncle, who was years older to the girl.
This apparently upset the girl and she had committed suicide, Sub-Inspector K Srinivasa Rao, said.
A case has been registered and investigation is on.
