Host of activities planned for Nagpur's Wagh Utsav

The Vidarbha Economic Development Council and the South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC), supported by MTDC, are organizing the third Wagh Utsav from February 20 to 22.

NAGPUR: The Vidarbha Economic Development Council and the South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC), supported by MTDC, are organizing the third Wagh Utsav from February 20 to 22. The aim of this event is to create awareness about tiger habitats in Vidarbha and their conservation by creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for local communities through tourism.
On February 20, competitions like fancy dress, best out-of-waste and dry and fresh flower arrangement will be organized for school students in two groups i.e.
4th, 5th and 6th and 7th, 8th and 9th. “The Jungle Quiz” would be held from 2pm to 5pm while a wildlife photography exhibition would be inaugurated at 6pm and kept open to the public till 9pm everyday.
Artisans of tribal federation of different states would put up their handicrafts for display at ‘Tribal Haat’ from 12pm to 9pm. Screening of Wildlife Movies will be held from 12pm to 2pm apart from an exciting cultural evening from 6pm with tribal dances, fashion show etc. A quiz will be held from 6pm to 8pm for the visitors at the Food Court.
On February 21, the events will start with a seminar on ‘Tiger conservation’ at 10am and advance photography workshop from 3pm to 7pm.
A Book Recitation by Raghav Chandra, author of ‘Scent of a Game’, will be held at Crossword at 4pm. Readers can meet him from 5pm to 6pm. A story telling competition ‘Dada-Dadi ki Kahaniyan’ based on Panchatantra stories will be held in Hindi/Marathi for senior citizens.
On February 22, the day will start with a seminar on ‘Self-employment opportunities in tiger country” from 12.50pm to 1:10pm while photography workshop will be conducted from 2pm-6pm. The festival will end with a cultural evening comprising a fashion show on wildlife footprint, followed by prize distribution.
