GURGAON: Police have busted a fake medical college at Ferozpur Jhirka town in Mewat district, some 70 km from Gurgaon, and booked the owner for cheating 35 students of lakhs by giving them forged admissions.
According to the police, Bilal A Hamidi had been running the fake medical college and hospital in the name of Shahrukh Khan College for the last one year.
The institute was set up on the premises of an engineering college in Rawli.
He allegedly took Rs 5 lakh from each student and gave them forged admissions.
“The college management had taken around Rs 5 lakh from each student and gave them forged admissions. We have booked the owner, who is on the run, and seized the fake college’s bank account with a nationalized bank. The investigation is going on,” Kuldeep Singh, the investigating officer and in-charge of Firozpur Zhirka police post, said.
Though local residents were suspicious about the authenticity of college, it was in October 2014 that a Rohtak resident, SK Arora, had informed the police about the fake college, alleging that it had been seeking several lakhs as donation for admissions. Following a preliminary probe, the police raided the fake college on Sunday.
