Moscow's Lenin Mausoleum Closed to Public for 2 Months

The Lenin Mausoleum on Moscow's Red Square will be closed to visitors for two months as it undergoes renovations.

The mausoleum, which houses the body of former revolutionary leader Vladimir Lenin, shut Monday and will reopen on April 16, the RIA Novosti news agency cited the Federal Guard Service as saying.

The structure first opened a week after Lenin passed away in 1924, and his body has been housed there ever since — barring a wartime evacuation.

The mausoleum is usually open to the public from Tuesday through Thursday and at weekends from 10 a.m. until 13 a.m, but is closed on public holidays.
