VARANASI: The excitement of India-Pakistan World Cup match was also felt at Rajputana grounds of Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IIT-BHU), where the annual cultural fest Kashiyatra was enjoyed on a big screen.
Even girls could be spotted cheering on top of their voices for Team India. Abhilasha and Prachi of Allahabad University said, "We are big Virat Kohli fans so we have come to cheer for him."
BHU student Anurag said that India will score over 350 before the match.
With the falling of every wicket of Pakistan, the atmosphere was getting electrified as students continued shouting 'We wont give it back', 'Go Team India' and 'Bleed Blue' during advertisements. "The long partnership of Dhawan and Kohli was much needed and we are glad that Raina did not let us down," said Nikhil.
Soon after Team India won the battle, all the cricket enthusiasts took to streets to celebrate the victory. The entire atmosphere and the people turned jubilant. They were busy jumping, singing and dancing. A few even took off their shirts in excitement. Those who had worn Indian jerseys were screaming 'I-N-D-I-A'. At Swatantrata Bhawan, where other events were going on, there was a celebratory mood. People who did not make it to the venue due to ongoing events and competitions got match updates on phone, internet or from friends watching match at the Rajputana grounds. Sakshi, a participant said, "I am glad my friend texted me that India won. Too happy for Virat."
Anant Sharma was beaming as India sailed to victory. "We proved lucky for the Indian team! I hope this winning streak continues," he said.
