Three die in road accidents

Three persons were killed in different road accidents since Wednesday night.

Police said a Kuppusamy (75) of Oddanchatram in Dindigul district, who was standing near the public toilet opposite Government Rajaji Hospital. He tried to cross the road when a TNSTC bus from Goripalayam to Anna bus stand fatally hit him around 6.30 a.m. on Thursday. In another accident reported at New Vilangudi, R. Nagarathinam (75) was killed after a two-wheeler knocked her down around 10.30 p.m. on Wednesday night.

S. Ayyanar (55) of Chinnapatti was killed on New Natham Road at Oomachikulam after a TNSTC bus hit his motorbike around 7.15 p.m. on Wednesday. The police said the bus was proceeding towards Alanganallur.

Woman tricked

An man stole three sovereigns of gold from a jewellers at Arapalayam Cross Road on Wednesday evening.

He came to the shop when P. Kavitha (27) was managing it in her husband’s absence. The man sought change for Rs. 100. When she was looking for the change, he started a conversation on a jewel design. After he left, she found the jewel missing. Karimedu police are investigating.
