HYDERABAD: Police raided a hotel at Yakutpura and arrested 10 persons, including the hotel owner, for indulging in betting on the India-Pakistan World Cup cricket match held at Adelaide on Sunday evening.
Acting on a tip-off, the Rein Bazar police raided Hyder Hotel behind Yakutmahal in Yakutpura on Sunday evening. “We found 10 persons, including hotel owner Zakir Hussain, indulging in betting on the India-Pakistan match and arrested them,” Rein Bazar inspector G Ramesh said.

Police seized Rs 8,230 cash from the punters and registered a case against them under the Gaming Act.
In two other cases, East Zone Task Force sleuths raided a house at Amberpet on Sunday morning and arrested five persons, including local BJP leader R Raju, for indulging in three-card gambling. Police seized Rs 18,560 cash and five cell phones from the gamblers.
Meanwhile, the Hayatnagar police arrested eight persons indulging in three-card betting at a house in Peddamberpet on Sunday and seized Rs 18,000 cash, three cars and nine cell phones.
